Cost of Dropouts in South Florida

In 2008, 33,600 students in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties dropped out of high school. Below are the potential gains for south Florida's economy from reducing that number by 50%:

> $157 million
Additional annual amount of local spending

> $55 million
Additional annual amount of investing

> $16 million
Increase in annual local tax revenue
